Labyrinth Nursery specializes in succulents / vetplante, desert plants (although they are found all over South Africa, such as the Eastern Cape, Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Western Cape), the hardcore waterwise drought tolerant plants that were made for Africa, made to withstand it’s harsh climate, made to outlast humanity!
We have a variety of different options available at our water-wise plant nursery, from your standard bedding indigenous / succulent plants in planting bags in varying sizes, which is what we started with and have been selling for many years… but in 2017 we introduced our assorted succulent / vetplante trays (as seen on Succulent-Trays.co.za), many different options of assorted water-wise plant trays available in 128’s, 45’s, 32’s and 24’s, some are just different succulent groundcovers or succulent shrubs, but others are complete designer water-wise gardens (some including veld-grass) all in a convenient tray which is cost-effective and easy to transport and very easy to plant… these trays are perfect for water-wise complex small-scale or large-scale gardens!!
2017 also saw the launch of our succulent gifts or event decor (as seen on Succulent-Gifts.co.za), which are aimed at weddings / conferences / events / company functions / even just for your patio at home!
Come visit our succulent / vetplante nursery (including desert plants) to experience the ‘World Of Succulents‘ in our magical succulent gardens.

We try to show you the true potential of these amazing hardcore plants, at our indigenous / succulent / vetplante nursery (north of Jo’burg.)
I call succulents / vetplante ‘Survival Experts‘ due to their amazing ability to hold life in their leaves or stems for many months before needing to put down roots to find the soil.
We have done many tests, and this is the main reason we sell ‘Succulent Clippings‘ on our online shopping site (GardenGoods.co.za.) Because, you can cut a piece of these amazing succulents / vetplante, and it will stay alive for many months, whilst going through the postal system possibly, before you need to plant it into soil. In fact, there is a good chance that if the delay is too long, this succulent / vetplant cutting will already have roots before it even arrives at your home!
“My own (me being Ryan Hermanson, founder of Labyrinth Nursery) experience with these amazing plants is endless, but I’ll tell you one little story that explains the magic that succulents possess… as a hobby, but possibly more than that one day, I have been making my own wooden / concrete succulent plant pots (to help me get over my divorce)… at first, I would plant succulent clippings in these pots with the intent on selling them as I made them… but it occurred to me to possibly make my range of pots first before adding plants to them… so I took out all of the succulent clippings and soil from the 10 or 15 pots that I had already planted, and left the succulent clippings on my glass patio table outside… after 3 months now… those succulent clippings are still alive on my glass table… some of them have roots (some not)… but all of them are still alive and their leaves are all pointing upwards towards the light… they have had no soil or fertilizer or water, yet they are holding onto life like true ‘Survival Experts‘… and this makes me fall in love with them and indeed God’s creation even more!”
